Hi! I’m Anne from Troutdale, Oregon, PNW born and raised. I was raised on a retired plant nursery surrounded by acres of plants, wildlife, and plenty of opportunities for adventure as a kid. My family took me hiking across all the waterfalls and trails in the Columbia River Gorge. We often traveled to Monterey, California, where I enjoyed tide pools along the coast. Those experiences sparked a curiosity in me and inspired me to start traveling and discovering different regions, biomes, and ecosystems. Today, I have explored Alaska, Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. I love any excuse to get outside, whether it’s hiking, taking photos, reading a book, or getting my hands dirty while learning something new. I’m also a very organized person and enjoy planning things out, making lists, creating schedules, and mapping out routes for my next trip!

This internship opportunity with Mt. Adams Institute is an exciting step forward in pursuing the field I am most drawn to and passionate about. I’m especially looking forwards to learning from those around me and being around like-minded people, hearing stories, understanding roles, and gaining insight into the many different paths that make up natural resources/ conservation/ recreation. I’m eager to learn new skills, build on the ones I already have, and fully challenge myself in this experience. I hope to continue growing both personally and professionally while contributing and laying a foundation for my future career. I’m looking forward to learning as much as I possibly can while also having fun and doing redeeming work along the way.
