Hey there, my name is Geoff Buchanan. I came from a humble background growing up in Northern California along the coast and the Redwood National Forest where there wasn’t much else to do besides get involved in the outdoors. My father was a roofer and my mother worked in human services, so I didn’t spend much time with them. Instead I spent my time with my dog, Flash, a backpack full of gear, and my fishing pole in the back country of Humboldt County. This is where I got my first real taste of the outdoors, and ever since then, I’ve always wanted to make a career out of the things I loved the most in the world. I got my start through AmeriCorps programs with Idaho Conservation Corps and Northwest Youth Corps. I worked in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington, doing everything from invasive species removal to wildfire mitigation. I’m mostly excited for the opportunity to see new things, have new experiences, and maybe even have a chance to finally make a career out of something that matters. I’m looking forward to the experience to come and appreciate everything.
