Waking up and wanting to go to work, that is how I wake up every morning while working on the Deschutes National Forest. I have never felt that way about a job whether it be while I was in the U.S. Coast Guard or working at the bank. Coming to this job everyday is wonderful, and I can honestly say that as an intern who makes very little money.
As the snow melted on the southern portion of the Deschutes National Forest the Crescent Ranger District came alive with enthusiasm of what the summer months may bring. Along with my daily NEPA/Special Uses duties the warmer weather has brought opportunities to work with a variety of departments in Crescent. Whether it be doing owl surveys with the wildlife crew or doing campground rounds with the recreation technicians, I have been able to do it all while working with the highly skilled professionals of the Crescent Ranger District. The extremely knowledgeable staff here has provided me with every opportunity to learn as much as possible from them during my time as an intern.
The Vetworks AmeriCorps program has put me into a position to be highly competitive when I pursue employment with Forest Service. With out this program it would be nearly impossible to land my dream job/career with the Forest Service. All I can say is “Thank You” to everybody who has let me be a part of such a wonderful program that lets me work with such smart, kind people.
