It was so much fun teaching mtadamsinstitute summer botany camp yesterday. The kids had a blast learning about plants and natural dyes. We had a field trip to bloomanddye to harvest fresh dye flowers and the older kids made bundle dyed bandanas. The young kids made indigo shibori bandanas and left with blue hands and blue arms! 💙🌿🌼💛
I left exhausted with a big smile and full heart. Seeing the joy and happiness on these kids faces as they saw what they created was a treat.

This season is coming to an end here for the Mt Adams wilderness crew. I am so thankful to have served with each of these amazing people who took me under their wings and taught me how to be a wilderness ranger. The things i experienced will forever make me a better person and a better outdoorsman. And the friendships made will last a lifetime. This wilderness ranger crew makes a massive impact on preserving the designated wilderness areas within the Gifford Pinchot and these last completely wild lands would be lost if not for the hard work and long hours dedicated by these fine humans. Thank you for this life changing experience that I will be forever grateful for! #mtadamsinstitute #americorps #vetswork #wildernessranger #wildernessculture #mountainlife

Third time’s a charm. After two previous attempts, finally summited Mt. Adams this morning. And of course, upon reaching the second highest peak of the Pacific Northwest, waiting for me was a spectacular view of the highest. Fuck you, Mt. Rainier.

Also fun fact that Chris is helping with a paddle right now! Repost: Chris Sutherland is a returning VetsWork Intern serving as the Field Technician for the estuarypartnership
"I began the term right where I left off, pulling ivy, blackberry, holly, and cleaning up sites for future restorative efforts. Something different for me this year is the big canoe paddle trips. I have always loved the water and to be able to take people from our communities out on our rivers and lakes is an experience I will never forget."
Thank you for your continued service, Chris!
