Things have been going great since I have started the VetsWork AmeriCorps program through the Mt. Adams Institute. Everyone that I work with has been more than helpful with teaching me the forestry technician position. I have been able to do a number of things to help progress my potential career in the Forest Service. So far I’ve learned to measure and mark trees, know what to look for to help progress the growth of pine stands, and have gotten more familiar with the variety of trees in the area. Besides the things that I have learned as a forestry technician, I have also had the opportunity to attend basic fire school and get a tractor license. With the way things are going I know I’ll have plenty more to report in my next blog.
