This is my second blog for the AmeriCorps internship that I am currently serving in as a range assistant with the U.S. Forest on the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest in Joseph, Oregon. So far it has been pretty exciting hiking in the beautiful landscape they call Hells Canyon, locating and recording water developments. This place is absolutely breathtaking and I’ve gotten to help out on so many exciting projects including utilization monitoring, rare plant surveys, wildland fire school and volunteer work! I have learned so much about so many different aspects of the Forest Service. I have also educated kids about range management and have had so many learning opportunities myself like mushroom hunting and surveying. I look forward to see what the rest of this internship has in store for me.
