Hello! My name is Delaney Skiles (she/her), and I’m from Portland, Oregon. My love for nature has blossomed throughout my years in the PNW and continues to thrive here in Seattle, Washington. I’m fond of hiking, cycling, running, birding, hammocking, crocheting, reading, and trying new restaurants. I studied Environmental Science & Terrestrial Resource Management at the University of Washington; I spent my summers collecting fire and forest ecology data with the Olympic Natural Resources Center, the Pacific Wildland Fire Sciences Lab, and the Harvey Lab. My passion for nature has deepened through my work in environmental education, accessible science communication, and ecological data collection.
I’m excited to dive into the hands-on skill-building and environmental career exploration that the Land Stewards program offers. As a recent graduate, I’m eager to further develop my career, and working with the Mt. Adams Institute and King Conservation District is an ideal next step! I’m looking forward to assisting King County landowners with monitoring, expanding my GIS skills, strengthening my science communication abilities, and learning more about forest health management and riparian restoration.
