I was an intelligence analyst with six years of service in the United States Navy. Originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, I enjoy white-water rafting, hiking, and reading (especially Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower” series).

I decided to become a Mt. Adams Institute VetsWork AmeriCorps intern to prepare myself for an undergraduate degree in environmental science and continue serving my country through community service. What excites me most about his position as a geologist/minerals administrator intern is the prospect of performing fieldwork in Washington and learning more about the principles of geology.

Blue Hour at Mount Adams, The #bluehour is the period of #twilight when the Sun is at a significant depth below the horizon and residual, indirect sunlight takes on a predominantly blue shade.

There are definitely silver linings to the challenges we’ve faced with the pandemic. VetsWork @AmeriCorps intern Melissa shares in her blog, “My internship has been much different than expected with the Covid-19 outbreak. I have spent many hours working from home. Although this is not ideal it’s given me time to research and understand some of the history of the Forest Service and therefore have a deeper respect for the work that is being done.” Read more about Melissa’s experience in VetsWork via the link in bio! Also, swipe right for Melissa’s favorite coworker aka cuteness overload!!!
