My name is Christopher Steinle and I grew up outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I am an eleven-year veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard where I developed several skills that I’m expecting to transfer to the environmental field. I have a bachelor’s and associate’s degree and I’m intending to finish a master’s program in public administration so I can serve my community and my country at a greater capacity.

I believe the Mt. Adams Institute AmeriCorps internship program will provide me opportunities to learn new skills that are desired for future employment and meet new people. Additionally, I believe that being in the service of others can make the heart whole because we can use our talents to make our community a better place to live and perhaps make someone else’s life a little more joyous. This is primarily where my strength comes from, and where our paths meet with Mt. Adams Institute and AmeriCorps.

Blue Hour at Mount Adams, The #bluehour is the period of #twilight when the Sun is at a significant depth below the horizon and residual, indirect sunlight takes on a predominantly blue shade.

There are definitely silver linings to the challenges we’ve faced with the pandemic. VetsWork @AmeriCorps intern Melissa shares in her blog, “My internship has been much different than expected with the Covid-19 outbreak. I have spent many hours working from home. Although this is not ideal it’s given me time to research and understand some of the history of the Forest Service and therefore have a deeper respect for the work that is being done.” Read more about Melissa’s experience in VetsWork via the link in bio! Also, swipe right for Melissa’s favorite coworker aka cuteness overload!!!

Our Public Lands Stewards graduate from their AmeriCorps internships on Friday! Follow along this week as we share final stories of their experiences.

From Dakota, serving at the Conboy Lake National Wildlife Refuge, “I am thankful to have worked on a project that I feel has a positive impact on our world and for Mt. Adams Institute being one small yet important piece to a large puzzle.”
