I grew up in Indianapolis a very active kid – playing sports and spending most of my time outside in our yard and neighborhood. I fell in love with public lands and the outdoors at large after high school when I started rock climbing. I bounced around for a while before landing in Arizona and discovering a passion for teaching. That led to me working as a climbing and backpacking guide, a ski team coach, and other roles where I could help give people the tools to get out and have fun.
Over the last few years I’ve become more and more interested in land management; working for a nordic ski center and state parks taught me a lot about different agencies and how they work to preserve and use public lands. I’m looking forward to expanding that knowledge and helping to care for our lands further in my role as a land steward.
