Cascade Mountain School
What We Do
Cascade Mountain School is a placed-based outdoor science education program for students. We are dedicated to inspiring curiosity about the natural world through outdoor exploration and adventure. Our camps promote individual responsibility and personal growth; fostering creation of community and understanding of the natural world; and excelling in inquiry, systems thinking, creativity, and sustainability studies.
Cascade Mountain School Is Many Things:
Cascade Mountain School offers a variety of day and overnight summer camps for ages 6-14. All our camps incorporate outdoor exploration, fun, environmental stewardship and hands-on learning! Topics include, but are not limited to: food systems and ecological agriculture, watershed science, mindfulness and personal health, wilderness survival skills, natural arts and crafts, and tinkering.
Summer camps utilize the Mt. Adams Institute 5-acre forest campus located behind the Mt. Adams Ranger District Office in Trout Lake, Washington in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest as home-base. The beautiful rustic forest campus includes three bunkhouses with bathrooms and showers, an intern office, a mess hall, open fields, woods, and nature classroom spaces spread throughout. Lying at the unique intersection of a fertile farming valley community, the dramatic glaciated peaks of the Cascade Mountain Range and the Columbia River Gorge; our programs use this landscape to explore, contemplate, play and understand our connection to the natural world.
