My name is Mitch Martinez. I was born and raised in Denver Colorado. I’m a big Colorado sports fan. I like to hike and camp there; the state has a lot of really nice spots for recreation. I was in the Air Force for 11 years stationed in New Mexico and Colorado. I’ve had deployments to Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, and Afghanistan; and temporary duties to Alaska and Hungary. I really enjoyed the traveling aspect of the Air Force.
I saw the Mt. Adams Institute’s VetsWork internship on Indeed and was very interested in the fact that it was in Alaska. I really enjoyed my 5-month temporary duty there during the summer months. It will be nice to experience the wet winter months in Sitka. I am hoping to get some good learning opportunities out of this position, as well as some much needed time outdoors.
