My name is Tyler Sendek. I grew up in Chicopee, MA, and a few other states along the New England coast. I joined the Marine Corps at 17, right after high school, and served a 4-year enlistment with a 6-month extension as an infantryman. The outdoors has always been a place of peace for me, where I’ve explored new forests, watched birds, and tried to observe the local wildlife. Nothing quite compares to a beautiful day on top of a mountain overlooking forests in my eyes.
I decided to become an Mt. Adams Institute AmeriCorps Intern to start building the skills necessary for a career in the forest service. I’ve always felt at peace in parks and nature. My hope for the future is to work in a career that helps share my love for the natural world in an approachable manner to the public. I’m excited to set out on an adventure to new places and work with people who share the same values as me. This program and the people I’ve talked with so far sound like the perfect place to progress toward a dream career shared with nature and others who love it.
