My name is Calvin and I grew up with both of my parents in the service. We moved around the country and settled on Prince of Wales Island in Alaska for my middle and high school. I graduated from Thorne Bay High School and went into the Marines. After getting out of the service, my goal was always to return to where I called home in Alaska with my family. This opportunity through the Mt. Adams Institute as an AmeriCorps Intern is allowing me to move back to my hometown while gaining job skills needed to work for the Forest Service on Prince of Wales Island; my goal is to work as part of the community and raise my daughter in the community that raised me.
