Over the past couple of months I have been introduced to several different opportunities. I have marked timber, evaluated roads, monitored archaeological sites, helped with recreation on the remodel of a bathhouse, and assisted with two comparison cruises on timber theft.
The amount of people willing to help and train people, such as myself and other newbies on the forest is overwhelming. I haven’t come into contact with anyone that hasn’t been willing to put forth effort and time to give me a learning opportunity. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in VetsWork AmeriCorps program here on the Shawnee National Forest, and look forward to the remaining months here.
