My name is Savanna Lopez and I was born and raised in rural central Iowa. My love for the outdoors started when I could walk. I grew up on a homestead out in the country and my father is an avid hunter and fisherman and was the first to teach me about land stewardship and how to respectfully enjoy the outdoors and its many benefits. My mother is also an outstanding outdoorswoman and loves to hike and garden. I graduated in 2022 from Iowa State University majoring in Environmental Science and minoring in Sustainability.
In the summer of 2021, I was a member of an AmeriCorps wilderness trail crew in the Sequoia National Forest and enjoyed every minute of it. That summer really fired up my passion for outdoor recreation and management. We worked closely with an NF wilderness ranger and I knew that I wanted to continue working in our National Forests. I love interacting with and educating the public. Outdoor ethics and wilderness skills are two of my favorite things to share knowledge and continue to learn about. I’m looking forward to strengthening my leadership skills and outdoor rec knowledge along with networking in the Western United States- especially in our beautiful National Forests!
