Growing up in the Pocono mountains of Pennsylvania I was taught to embrace and appreciate the nature around me by my father. Being an Infantryman in the Army, my father was no stranger to walking tireless miles with a heavy pack. So it was no surprise when I had picked up the hobby of backpacking, and in some ways, felt closer to him. With each trip I have gone on, I can say I have learned a new lesson or new skill. I love hiking, working towards a goal, and being rewarded with the beautiful views that nature has to give.
Deciding to become a Mt. Adams Institute AmeriCorps intern was an easy decision because I knew this opportunity would lead me to continue on the career path I would love to pursue and learn so much while doing so. Getting to see new sights, positively impacting the environment, and making new connections are what excites me the most about this position. Overall, I am hoping to have an adventurous summer while making a difference.
