I grew up in Texas. I have always loved being in nature and find a strong connection to animals and plants. I spent six years serving in the military as an Air Force officer. I graduated from Baylor University and the University of Texas at Arlington. Since being out of the military, I’ve had a difficult time staying grounded unless I’m surrounded by nature. Nature spiritually connects me and allows me to feel a sense of peace and fulfillment. Reading the description of my VetsWork position seemed like the perfect fit. Having done a previous year of AmeriCorps NCCC in my younger years was one of the best opportunities for me to grow and reflect. We spent a 3-4 month stint working at a state park as part of our 10-month commitment. I am interested in exploring a career as a park ranger or a seasonal park ranger and my background working with tourists on ships and tours seems to be a perfect fit. I’m looking forward to this opportunity 🙂
